Right...and the reasoning is that is how CSS/HTML/SVG/VML view the 
world...and since the maps I have will be displayed in a browser its 
seems best to stick to that viewpoint.

In this case, why not take the usual multivalued

Category - hmmm, interesting idea.  Seems like a bit of a stretch 
though, doesn't it?  I think of it more for things like tags.  Are there 
other common use cases?  Note that Atom has a separate Icon element, so 
it doesn't use categories in the way (no thoughts on RSS, I've tried to 
avoid it and stick with Atom).

featuretype seems wrong - isn't that supposed to mean that a geometry 
represents a road, or a building, or some such thing.  Which brings up a 
totally separate issue that couldn't featuretype disappear and be 
replaced by a category?
