Marc,
It is true that adding CountryNames, RegionNames and ZoneNames to the
associated codes might seem redundant. Bit it does make information
explicit and human readable. It does support disadvantaged clients so they
do not have to do the lookup and continuously access the web services.
The argument could also be made that the codes themselves are redundant when
you have position. The client could do the lookup and retrieve at runtime
the information they need (assuming that the services are available)
Using one-liners/attributes is a good idea and would make the feed a little
more compact. We ought to agree on it.
I do not know ISO addressed the i18n problem. I am not too worried about it
right now. I am much more interested in seeing a convergence in RSS feeds
and standardization of geocoding information for remote sensing feeds.
