Understood, although if a client can render GML, MultiGeometry isn't
much more complex.

I guess by complexity, I meant profile.
So simple browsers would render what they are capable of (discarding the
GML elements by default as a good Atom reader) and GML-capable browsers
would be instructed as a best practice to ignore simple elements if
there are any GML elements in that item.
If that is adopted, then multiple geometries could be allowed (and
rendered) without having to worry about their meaning. The format would
identify the various representations.
