No, but it's a classic "chicken & egg problem" - there aren't clients,
so people aren't publishing in anything but simple, but then why make
a client that reads them when... :)
I would say go ahead and publish your lines & poly's and then push the
client developers to implement reading lines & polys in Simple. As a
client developer myself, I'm a lot more inclined to spend the time
parsing the complex geometry if I can immediately grab an actual feed
and test/demonstrate it.

I don't think Simple supports this, that's what GML is for I believe.

For Simple, no, I don't think so. Lat/lon pairs of a line are assumed
to be all connected.
