Right, we did have second thoughts here.  We considered using custom
tags for photos' locations, but reusing the georss namespace made more
sense.

We looked into various media RSS modules, but were missing tags for well
defined time specification (e.g. ISO 8601), and geotags.

MediaRSS does look promising, we'll look into using it instead (and
maybe use dc: extensions for the missing pieces).

When a GPS track is present, each photo will have unique coordinates.
And we would like to avoid having a separate entry for each photo;
aggregating the photos into trip entries makes the feed -- and the user
interface -- much more comprehensible.
