The geometry is an aspect of the viewer software not the feed producer
and the feed. If a feed entry is about the US then it should not be the
the job of the feed producer to think about the shape of the US. This is
the job of the rss reader software. Some readers will mark the capital
of a country. Others will not use a map at all and us some explorer like
tree structure. Other readers will use shape information and highlight
the counry borders on a map.
The feed should just contain information (country code US in this case),
how the information is displayed is up to the viewer.

If we use the iso code (or another code) then we just lay back and let
the iso folks deal with this problem. It is their business not ours.
