Dear Members

The email list has been quiet over the last 6 weeks since the launch of the Applied Geomorphological Mapping Working Group. We have, however, been busying establishing some of the key goals and outputs for the group, as well as implementing ways for the group to interact and collaborate. We are therefore pleased to announce the launch of the AppGeMa website which can be found at:

http://www.appgema.org

This will form the repository of news and information for the group. It is an interactive site ("wiki" for those in the "know"!) that allows readers to edit, and therefore add to, the webpages. Specifically you can find information on:

1. Aims and objectives of the group
2. Conferences where there will be AppGeMa activity
3. Members of the group
4. Technical (principally GIS at the moment) resources
5. Mailing list information
6. A list of web links

There is also information available on the intended outputs of the group:

1. Reference List
2. Professional handbook (current at proposed Table of Contents)
3. Glossary of Terms
4. Digital Atlas (proposition)
5. Information of a physical library for deposition of materials

As noted above, this is an *interactive* site. Whilst we have populated most areas with at least some information, the true collaborative nature of the group can be collected together through the site. To add information simply click on the "Edit" link available on any page. You can immediately add information (there are some simple "help" notes at the bottom of any page you are editing). If you require further help, there is an extensive help system available through the menu on the left. Please note that in order to edit any pages you will be asked for a password. This is:

We would particularly like to target the following areas for contributions:

-technical
-web links
-reference list
-glossary

We are currently finalising initial details for conferences, professional handbook and digital atlas. Further information will be following shortly.

If you have any feedback concerning the work of the group or the website then please use either the mailing list or contact us directly.

Best Wishes

Paolo Paron
